15 songs effortlessly teach basic musical skills:

o Beat keeping

o Singing, moving and using maracas on a musical cue

o Recognizing changes in dynamics, attack and meter

o Matching creative movement to a variety of rhythms

Prepare by doing some musical warm-ups, clapping, rubbing hands, or patting

thighs to a beat!

1) Ask the children to show you their boo-boos! Then start the CD. Put some

emotion into chanting "ouch, ouch, ouch!" (Bossanova Boo-Boo).

2) With Mr. Train, ham it up on the long sneeze. Kids catch on to the fun.

3) "Hut, 2,3,4, Hut, 2,3,4". March around tables in circular fashion

(Marching Train). When the music speeds up, march double time,

or run.

4) Have the children lie down on a rug for Go To Sleep. Let them get up and

jump during the "jump" part.

5) Lead Hokey Pokey Blues standing in a circle.

6) Sit in a circle for If You’re Happy and You Know It and really act this

one out!

7) Rock out on One More Cookie Mama by leading the children in singing the

whole song, soulfully!

8) "Oooooh!" The kids will punctuate

each line in Blue Food with "oooooh"! Encourage squeamishness!

9) How silly can you walk? (Stepping Silly) Cool them down to a slow sober

walk on the slower "bow wow wow" part.

10) Shake & Dance is just that! Call

out individual names on the "I see you dancing" part.

11) Break out the maracas for Mama Shake With Me. You’ll need them to lure

the children to the sitting circle.

12) Let Bottle Be Bottle challenges the children by changing the shaking

speed back and forth.

13) Bye-Bye / How Do You Know? ends the program. Improvise by bidding each of

the children "Bye bye."

14/15) These two songs, Cold Oatmeal and Slip, Fall, Boom are
